Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄應用科技大學 === 資訊管理系碩士在職專班 === 102 === IT systems have become an indispensable component in business growth today. Along with the development of IT technology, more and more businesses have become accustomed to adapting IT solutions in solving their problems. The professional IT unit is necessary for IT system implementation, development and operation. However, with continued IT system growth among businesses, the importance of IT staff is often not valued equally or given the equivalent investment to meet rising technological needs, so that it appears the growth in IT is not in line with the growth of these businesses and IT technology. Common existing phenomena: - IT investment gets a small portion of the total budget, but IT systems are usually key to the entire business operation - IT staff workload increases, but staff often do not receive proportionate compensation (or improvement in working conditions) - Problems in valuing the performance of the IT unit: IT staff can't be rewarded according to particular accomplishments. Based on case studies, interviews and observation of facts, this research used system dynamics research methods to both construct a model of the interaction between organizations and IT units, and to create a causal feedback loop diagram. Systems thinking was applied in order to identify the driving loop and thereby explain the problems that a given organization and IT unit may be encountering right now, or could encounter during the process of business growth in the future. This research discovered that IT growth is driven by two positive loops, "IT demand growth" and "IT investment growth". Business owners and IT managers can therefore monitor the growth and decline of these two loops. If either loop is dominated or severely lagging behind the other, it will result in varying degrees of impact on IT systems and their quality. In order to improve the current situation, managers of IT units can continue to pay attention to these two loops and apply adjustments according to programs of action suggested by this research.
