ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is for enhance the microstructure of Prism Sheet (PS) in backlight modules (BLM) by fabricating in Robust Precision Turning Technology, where PET acted as the matrix with UV-curable epoxy acrylates. Effect of the three factors for preparing the microstructure of PS, microstructure assemble, the pitch of PS and the radius of the apex angle, was investigated by evaluating the luminance gain with LUMINANCE COLORIMETER BM-7.
From the results of the experiment, the higher efficiencies were showed with microstructure assembled linearly (equal height), the pitch of PS for 50 μm, the radius of the apex angle for 9 μm. The luminance gain values were 0.15, 0.20, and 0.08 respectively. Hence it actually raised the luminance of BLM by adjusting the above parameters in the process of PS. Among them, the pitch of PS for 50 μm can provide the most obvious effect of luminance gain value.
In a comparison of 3M BEF Π 90/50, another three factors for preparing BLM were considered except PS. There were refractive index of glue, fog of the diffusion layer and the type of the assembly. Where refractive index of glue for 1.56, fog of the diffusion layer for 25% and one-film type were chosen, the efficiency was higher than 3M BEF Π 90/50. The luminance gain value was from 0.10to 0.685.
