Summary: | 碩士 === 崑山科技大學 === 環境工程研究所 === 100 === Titanium dioxide powders modified with specific metal or metal oxide could be used as photocatalyst with visible light activity. In this work, various nanometersized titanates have been prepared from alkoxide solutions containing polyethylene glycol (PEG) via the sol-gel method
and by calcination of a mixture of (NH4)2WO4 or NiCl2‧6H2O and titanium dioxide sol solution. And they were used as photocatalysts with visible light activity in the degradation of methylene blue in water.
The results show that: Titanium dioxide could be modified by the addition of Ni or W ion, and its UV-Vis optical absorption spectrum obviously has shifted to the absorption of visible light range. The more active modified titanium dioxide photocatalysts were obtained by adding Ni/Ti = 0.05 or W/Ti = 0.03 and calcining at 600 ℃ or 700 ℃, respectively. With visible light irradiation, methylene blue (20 ppm) in water could be decomposed to the level of 36~37% using a modified photocatalyst content of 0.66 g dm-3 for 10 hours.
