| Summary: | 碩士 === 開南大學 === 商學院碩士在職專班 === 100 === The booming development in Metro Area leads to a fast expansion in car vehicle and populations. As other major city, it faces many traffic problems need to be solved. A subway system is a good receipt for dealing with long term traffic issue in metropolitian. It will change the city residents’ transportation choice, increasing the city mechanism, and accelerating the suburban’s fast development. While a strong connection in subway routes and peripheral transportation is building, urban people are gradually indulged in the convenience came from subway system network.
Our research analysis is based on the financial and operation data of different subway corporations in Beijing,Singapore,Hong Kong and Taipei to compare the difference and advantage. As we can see, HongKong MTR has better operating result and usage rate than Taipei MRT Corporation. Because of a new subway route available every year, we can see the obvious growth of total revenue and passengers amount in Taipei MRT system. It will be more effective if the authority can put more emphasis on the growth of suburban area to increase the passenger amount, the increase of usage and penetration rate, various ticket price approaches and stable subway operation.
Basing on the research result, we have four suggestions to enhance the performance. First, MRT corporation should increase the usage to keep profit. Second, the location choice for MRT station should consider resident’s intensity and make it balance. Third, MRT corporation should offer various ticket combo. Last, MRT corporation should have a stable operation to increase the passenger amount and profit.
