碩士 === 開南大學 === 商學院碩士在職專班 === 100 === This thesis aims to find how it helps primary teachers with teaching efficiency and pupils with learning performance applying cloud computing supplementary materials to English teaching and learning.
The study carries out the quasi-experiment design of the pre-assessment and post-assessment of the experimental group and the controlled group. The 122 pupils are from four classes in a primary school in Taoyuan County, and they are divided into the groups by random. With the consent of the parents and the homeroom teachers, the 122 pupils use the textbook of I Love ABC, Book One, published by KST, and take the pre-assessment of English learning achievement. In Accordance with the outcomes of the pre-assessment and the homeroom teachers’ willingness to join the experimental program, the experimental group and the controlled group are respectively selected. The 61 pupils of the experimental group are from the two classes. They take the English classes for 11 weeks, 40 minutes per week, with cloud computing supplementary materials in English teaching and learning. The rest 61 pupils of the other two classes are in the controlled group. Guided by the textbook and the teachers’ guidebook, the traditional English teaching approach is applied to the class. At home, the pupils of the controlled group have to take the English self-assessment on line designed by KST and use the cloud computing supplementary materials. After the experiment, the pupils of the controlled group take the post-assessment of English learning achievement in the written form. And the pupils of the experimental group take both the post-assessment of English learning achievement in the written form and the KST on-line English assessment in the computer classroom. Therefore, the mean and the standard deviation of the assessment scores help to find how the application of cloud computing supplementary materials in primary English teaching and learning influences pupils’ learning performance and teachers’ teaching efficiency. The study adopts both the qualitative and quantitative approaches. The conclusions are as follows.
1. The application of the cloud computing supplementary materials in English teaching and learning changes the way for English teachers to teach in primary classroom. By adding multi-media teaching materials to the general and traditional teaching materials, English learning turns to be more interactive and attractive. Therefore, with the pleasant and interesting learning modes, the pupils’ motivations are successfully generated, and they acquire better learning performance in English.
2. The application of the cloud computing supplementary materials in English teaching and learning in primary classroom can increase the interactions between the pupils and the teachers. Besides, by encouraging parents to help the pupils practice English on line, the children and their parents are more intimate.
3. The study finds that for the pupils of the controlled group the outcomes of the post-assessment are considerably influenced by the assessment location, the time, the multi-media computer facilities and the pupils’ psychological situation. Teaching efficiency and learning performance are not obviously related to the post-assessment outcomes.
4. As the investigation of the study shows, most of the parents of the experimental group and the controlled group applaud the performance of the experimental program.
5. The pupils’ motivations are successfully generated as the cloud computing supplementary materials present lively animations and games, and with the specialties the English teacher devotes herself to helping the pupils acquire better learning performance .
6. The learning performance of the pupils is influenced by the limitations in some aspects when the study carries out, and due to the limitations of the study, the result can not lead to more inferences.
