The Roles and Functions Military Instructors Play on the Prevention of Adolescents’ Drug Abuse-Taking Private Senior and Vocational Schools in Taoyuan County as An Example

As a matter fact, among the adolescent drug users, most of them are senior high and vocational school students. That is, if we can keep a good control over the phenomena of the drug use on senior and vocational high school’s campuses, it would do a lot of help to the whole society. Therefore, when military instructors at senior and vocational schools face this kind of issue, they should pull their heart out to counsel these “delinquent adolescents”, who have problems on drug abuse. During the counseling, the strategies and actions military instructors take will also have apparent influence on the effects of drug prevention. With regard to the previous situation, this essay discuss about the functions and roles military instructors at senior and vocational schools play on the issue of the prevention to adolescent drug abuse, so as to enhance the importance military instructors have on campuses and reduce the growing problems of adolescent drug abuse. There are thirteen interviews with the military instructors at private senior and vocational schools in this study. According to the interview materials, the factors that cause professional officer’s transfer to military instructors on campus include the military system, family, personal future plan and the interests on educational jobs, etc. In addition, we also get to know the problems of adolescent drug abuse are getting really serious. As for the senior and vocational schools nowadays, we could count on military instructors to use the existing prevention system to screen the students with drug abuse behavior and counsel them afterwards. As far as educational policy is concerned, the roles and functions military instructors play on campus are not only for the lectures of all-out defense education, but also for the prevention of drug abuse and correlated student counseling, which are already their critical missions these days. Apart from their counseling students, cooperating multi-facet complementary strategies and methods can enable us to stop students from the related external factors that lead to access to the drugs in its earlier or middle stage. Beyond all question, in addition to the functions military instructors have on campus, it would work more efficiently if we get the cooperation of schools, police, families and professional counselors so as to help these “delinquent adolescents” return back.
