Summary: | 碩士 === 華梵大學 === 工業設計學系碩士班 === 100 === Image aesthetics is the combination of intrinsic accomplishments and external behaviour, and its content includes the three-fold intrinsic, extrinsic and behavioural messages. Intrinsic messages designate inherent character, composure, values, ethics, painstakingly acquired formal education and professional competency at work. Extrinsic messages including dressing, hairstyle, make-up, colour rendering, etc. all of these make us achieve how far we can accomplish our external styling; in other words the visual sensation sent out to others. Behavioural messages include etiquette, bearing and body language.
The creation of one’s own image is the representation of the development of one’s proper inner character and proper external apparel. Hence, at a personal level, human relationship must receive recognition, and one’s working performance must be valued. The saying “be honest, be just, cultivate oneself” means extending personal attention on image aesthetics in order to bring forward benefits to society and nation.
This thesis makes use of the study of documents, exploration of historical context, contemporary society analysis, interviews with experts in the field and a long teaching experience to come to an in-depth interpretation of the study of image aesthetics. The analysis and investigation of the cultivation of one’s image aesthetic, provides excellent information in order to comprehend the way to realize personal image aesthetics in his life. The aesthetic creation and development of one’s personal image, the planning and promotion of a community’s image, the preservation and expansion of a nation's image, they all have their importance and future tendencies: this study will explore these subjects in depth.
This thesis is structured into six chapters: the first one seeks to clarify the motivation of this study, its objectives, methods and means. The second chapter consists of the basic theory of this thesis, describing the historical development of image aesthetics through an analysis of both a Chinese and Western historical angle. The third chapter is one of the focuses of this thesis, describing internal preservation of image aesthetics, emphasizing the importance of character cultivation and the development of professional knowledge. Chapter Four contains a second focus of this study. It describes the external manifestation of image aesthetics – appearance is fundamental to strengthening self-confidence. It’s the source of all first impressions. Chapter Five consists of the third emphasis of this article. It explores the relationship between rites and the structure of image aesthetics, the sense of proportion in human interaction, taking “etiquette” and “instruction” as a criterion. The last chapter, the conclusion, expects that this study will bring new concepts, new ways of thinking, emphasizing the importance of image aesthetics and its future trends.
