However, the author thinks that the researchers need to understand the history, art history, and custom history to a certain degree, and knowing the time, motif, and the matters when the artists were creating a painting. Thus, they can have better judgment to the history paintings. This is because the painting time is not necessary at the time when the subject occurred. It might be years, even hundred years, after the incidents. Even if the painting is drawn when the incident happens, it tends not to be consisted with the truth. The reason is painter not necessary paints what they see- they might reluctant to do so, or instructed by others, or they are not skillful to express what they see, or even they do not see the scene-they just paint per their own imagination. This comic creation exhibition discusses five issues, which are: 1. Painting of Chung Hsing Four Generals 2. Portrait of Chu Yuan-Chang 3. Wei Hai Wei defeat Ding Ru Chang surrender painting 4. The political promotion painting of Napoleon 5. The policy of country from George Macartney by William Alexander. The author finds the painting circumstances of the original painters in the form of comic and proposes the view point that “the painters not necessary paint what they see.” Hong Chang-Gu 洪昌穀 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 103 zh-TW
