Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔英科技大學 === 生物科技系碩士班 === 100 === EV71 is an important human pathogenic viruses, and of nearly 100 enterovirus species, enterovirus 71 is most prone to cause severing and mortality of disease. Most enterovirus infected people will be heal about 7-10 days after infection, but a very small number of people infected with enterovirus will develop serious complications syndrome, such as encephalitis, meningitis, and acute limb paralysis. However, neither no a standard treatment for enterovirus 71 infection, nor no effective vaccine drug prevention for enterovirus infection. In this study, a chinese medicine herbal extract of, Agastache rugosa was used to inhibit enterovirus 71 infection. In cell experiments, the agastache rugosa extract and enterovirus 71 were mixed or after infection to cells. The viability of cells was examined and a real-time polymerase chain reaction was used ro quantify the amount of virus. Our results show that with the treatment of agastache rugosa extract, the viability of was higher than the cells without treatment of agastache rugosa extract. Moreover, the titer of virus in the rugosa treated cells was lower than in non- treated cells, suggesting an effective inhibition of agastache rugosa extract on enterovirus 71 infection.
