| Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 織品服裝學系 === 100 === There are more and younger woman in Taiwan suffering from Breast Cancer. But the mortality rate has declined with time. In other word, the advancement of medical technology can save more valuable lives of cancer patients.
But it also means more patients need postoperative care and assistance. Mastectomy is an important cure method and also a choice of most patients.
Pain and the change of body after mastectomy constitute a great task for woman patient. Patients would have to face the shock and lost from mastectomy. Such thing could shake their self identity and even their self-esteem.
Taiwan Wacoal has established Social service department, Remamma, to help breast cancer patient with postoperative product- implanted breast bra.
As a designer in Taiwan Wacoal for more than a decade, I was motivated by my professional background to look into implanted breast bra. I hope to improve the unsatisfied part of implanted breast bra and perfect it to fit the need of its requests.
One well-functioned implanted breast bra could restore the beauty and confidence of its owner and help relief the uncomfortable of body.
It would help cancer patient to pick up their life more easily and prevent them from losing their self-esteem.
The thesis would like to aim at the actual needs of mastectomy patient and key implanted breast bra design factors. The thesis would focus on following subjects :
1. The basic constitution of implanted breast bra.
2. Induct and analyze the feeling and actual needs of implanted bra wearer through qualitative research.
3. Analyze the key implanted breast bra designing factors and provide improving factors through the constitution of a implanted breast bra.
Research result shows that,
1. the style and functions of implanted breast bra have to be verified to fit the needs of different stage of postoperative recovering.
2. Through Qualitative research, the author interview 5 wearers and understand wearers’ actual needs and feelings by 3 aspects: outlook, function, and material.
3. Author made a modified implanted breast bra in accordance with the results of interview and put it to trial wearing. The trial wearing shows the modified bra has a better stability and covering.
4. The thesis inducted 3 key factors base on trial wearing results which are outlook, function, and material.
