Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 資訊工程所 === 100 === The Internet has grown very fast in recent years. In Internet, there are many type of services which people can enjoy them everywhere. These services include multimedia, data center, etc. These services all need a large-scale storage system to store thousands of data. Although large-scale storage system can provide large storage capability, it also consume larger of energy. Today, green computing has become more and more important. How to reduce the energy consume in a large-scale storage system is a big issue. The traditional energy-efficient storage system usually spins down the hard disks rotation rate to reduce the energy consumption. However, only spinning down the hard disks rotation rate can only save little energy. In this thesis, we propose an energy-efficient storage system by switching the server state into sleeping mode to reduce the energy consumption. We also propose two scheduling algorithm to handle the offline and online scheduling mode. The experimental result shows the proposed energy-efficient storage system can save about 50%~75% energy.
