碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 統計與精算所 === 100 === This study would like to explore the expenses of hospitalization and length-of-stay in Taiwan. We utilized Mixed Model to estimate the average amounts of hospitalized medical cost and length-of-stay for different gender, age and cancer types is performed based on the information obtained from National Health Insurance Research Database. Our analysis shows that hospitalization expenses on average paid by National Health Insurance (NHI) are increasing each year. However, the average length-of-stay are decreasing. In addition, the overall average payment by NHI is higher amongst male inpatient compared to female inpatients. In contrary to this situation, patient payment by female inpatients is higher than male inpatients.
