The contents of this research includes six chapters; chapter 1 introduction, chapter 2 literatures and case reviews, chapter 3 development of Matzu temple''s construction and analyzes with the spatial vocabulary, chapter 4 analysis: analyzes with the shape grammar, and chapter 5: conclusion and recommendations. 1. Introduction: This chapter is to introduce motivation, purpose, objects and their backgrounds, development of methodology and research procedures. 2. Literatures and case reviews: To review relevant literatures and analyze them as this step may provide adequate information hence structure of methodology and theories are developed to support this research. 3. History of Masu temple; origin and development: In this chapter, the origin and development of Masu belief will be introduced. Also, development of Masu belief will be discussed by 3 different political situations; Chin dynasty, Japanese colonial time, and KMT governing time. The aim of this chapter is to acquire elements and progress of Mazu temples'' vocabularies of the elevation spatial by comparing and analyzing plane space and elevation space of subjects. This thesis was mainly targeted at five Matzu temples in middle and southern Taiwan for examples. 4. Analysis: Shape grammar: In this chapter, shape grammar is applied to be the primary methodology of plan analysis to analyze subjects. The start point is the main hall of every subject. By using shape grammar, rules of main halls'' plan grammar are obtained. 5. Conclusion and recommendations: In this chapter, findings acquired from chapter 4 and chapter 5 are summarized; conclusion for this research is also provided. The plane type, vocabularies of the elevation spatial, constitution, and considerations of constructors are revealed. However, traditional room designs seems to become an issue for function of space in modern era; as this might affect future design thus further study is recommended. 宋玉真 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 138 zh-TW
