Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 光電研究所 === 100 === This work studies a coupling-ratio-tunable fused-tapered single-mode fiber coupler with both wide working wavelength range and selectable central wavelength. It is manufactured by winding the coupling region of a linear fused-tapered single-mode fiber coupler into an optical fiber loop. The coupling ratio may be tuned by changing the circumference of the fiber loop, and the central working wavelength can be determined by controlling the stop point of the linear coupler fabrication process. Such device is shown to be easily fabricated. Working wavelength range greater than 30 nm and excess loss less than 0.5 dB are obtained. The waveguide two-mode interference theory is employed to account for the tuning characteristics of the device. This process technique can be used to make 3×3 as well as 2×2 coupling-ratio-tunable fused-tapered single-mode fiber couplers. A 90-nm selectable range of central working wavelength is achieved.
