Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 企業管理所 === 100 === According to the knowledge-based view, knowledge is the most important resource of firms as it can create competitive advantages. Research in strategic alliance also empirically validate that knowledge and learning capability are the most valuable assets for firms, and posits that firms can acquire from or create knowledge jointly with partners through alliance. However, previous studies have often explored the effects of alliance learning/inter-organization learning on relationship performance or knowledge transfer, ignoring the effect of learning activities on knowledge creation. In addition, the moderating effects of firm and alliance characteristics have received less concern. To fill the gap, this dissertation aims to investigate whether relationship learning influences knowledge creation of firms (including technological knowledge and market knowledge)which in turn influences firm innovation. Besides, firm characteristics (including learning intent and alliance experience) and alliance characteristics (including knowledge complementarity and long-term relationship orientation) are incorporated in the research framework to analyze their moderating roles. The sample of this research is 164 manufacturing firms in Taiwan. Empirical results indicate that relationship learning positively influences knowledge creation, and knowledge creation subsequently influences innovation. As to the moderating effects of firm characteristics, the stronger the learning intent, the stronger the effect of relationship learning on knowledge creation. Alliance experience has no moderating effect on the link between relationship learning and knowledge creation. As to the moderating effects of inter-firm characteristics, knowledge complementarity enhances the effect of relationship learning on knowledge creation, whereas long-term relationship orientation does not moderate the effect of relationship learning on knowledge creation. Finally, implications of this research and suggestions for future research are offered.
