Summary:碩士 === 大葉大學 === 設計暨藝術學院碩士在職專班 === 100 ===     In the process of teaching geography for several years, the researcher feels that so many maps in textbooks do not meet the needs of common learners’rules. Therefore, by investigating the students on their favors of two similar maps so that the researcher can judge that which map design is more helpful for students’ learning. Besides, according to the research outcomes, the researcher provides some suggestions on map design for the publication companies while these suggestions may be applied to the reference books or handouts in geography.     The researcher investigated the students in junior high school on the favor of the maps in textbooks and got the following conclusions: 1.The students prefer the maps that have suitable color brightness and color saturation. However, they are also much fond of bright shade and brighter shade. 2.The students prefer the legends which are directly shown on the map. They think in this way it would save time in viewing the legends or maps. 3.The students prefer the forms, sizes, and colors of the words in maps to differ according to the types in maps, such as mountains, rivers, geographic regions, nations, cities, etc. 4.The students prefer the main points of the maps that are directly illustrated in maps to the words of the descriptions that are shown beside the maps. 5.The students prefer keywords that are easy, clear to be memorized in maps to the words of the descriptions that are shown on the maps. 6.The students prefer to the maps with simple contents, while those maps with abounding contents would interrupt the learning via maps.
