In recent years, water quality protection has been a widespread concern. Domestic waste water and livestock waste water is the main source of domestic waste water, and direct discharge will pollute river and lake quality. In Taiwan, the current domestic waste water is discharged to the sewers and treated by the large-sized waste water treatment plants. The popularity rate of current public sewage system by the Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of the Interior, as of November 2010 is 28%, indicating that more than 70% of domestic wastewater is directly discharged into the receiving waters. The livestock waste water in Taiwan is treated by three-stage treatment system and the construction cost is high. If the domestic waste water and livestock wastewater is treated by Steady Flow Biological System (SFBS), large costs can be reduced.
This study used SFBS plant equipment and steady flow biological system to treat domestic wastewater and livestock wastewater. This study aimed to test removal rate of the system under different pollution loads and discuss the removal conditions.
The findings showed that COD removal rate is 80.0% after treatment of domestic waste water; removal rate of SS is 79.8% on the average; the average removal rate of TN is 63.9%; the average removal rate of NH3 is 85.9%; the TP removal rate is 49.3% on the average. Average COD removal rate of the swine wastewater system is 95.53% after anaerobic treatment and aerobic treatment; average SS removal rate is 97.69%; average BOD removal rate is 98.28%; the pH of the outlet water is 7.76; the average outlet water is 28.0℃; average ORP of outlet water is -142 mv, and average TN removal rate is 77.83%; average NH3 removal rate is 88.84%, and average removal rate of TP is 89.45%.
Currently, elimination of resource waste is the global goal. In treatment and operation of actual waste water, removal rate is relatively increased under the good conditions. As compared to the common waste water treatment system, this equipment has low cost and occupancies small space, conforming to the global goal.
