Summary: | 碩士 === 中國醫藥大學 === 醫務管理學系碩士班 === 100 === In Taiwan, the correct knowledge of breast cancer screening and prevention has not been commonly perceived. Most women think that breast self examination is enough to detect breast cancer. One of the major reasons is the lack of proper source for women to obtain the adequate knowledge. This is true even to breast cancer web pages since most of them are created from the perspectives of breast cancer specialists, and the contents are not easy for ordinary people to understand. In this research, an ontology for breast cancer screening and prevention is developed to create an user-centered web site from which people can acquire the knowledge they really need. A ontology development software, Protégé 3.4.4, is employed to structure the breast cancer knowledge. In this ontology, there are five classes (subjects) namely breast symptoms, breast cancer stages, risk factors, examination and diagnosis, and treatments. To create a user-centered system, we analysis a number of relevant web sites, investigate the perception of people in breast cancer screening and prevention, obtain expert’s counsel, and collect breast cancer cases. The contents are arranged and expressed in a way that ordinary people can easily understand. A lot of graphs are also used for visual aids. A questionnaire investigation is used to validate user’s satisfaction and to assess the effectiveness of the system. There are four hundred questionnaires returned. As for the effectiveness, the average pretest scores are 3.902 out of 7 points, and the post test averages 6.440 points. The scores lifts up to 2.52 points (65%) demonstrating a significant increase in knowledge understanding (p<.001). The satisfaction of the user is also significant as indicated by a small p value (p<.001).
