Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 運輸科技與物流管理學系碩士班 === 100 === It is a common situation that the junior high school students ride motorcycles without wearing helmets in parts of Taiwan. Many schools regulate the behaviors of students to wear helmets by registration of violations and penalties. However, there are many schools do not establish related registrations and counseling systems for the incompliant students. Currently, the registrations of traffic violations and the counseling are included in the evaluations of traffic safety education. Yet, there are still few related studies about how registrations of traffic violations and counseling affect students in not wearing helmets and to what extent in behavior regulations.
In this study, we selected one junior high school that is currently without related registration and counseling measures. By observations and recordings of the number of students without wearing helmets before the proceeding of the violation registrations and counseling measures, as well as by the quasi-experimental design to proceed the registrations of incompliant students and traffic safety counseling, the authors learn the differences of wearing helmets and perceptions of traffic safety knowledge before and after carrying out the counseling measures. The major findings and conclusions are listed as following:
1. After the implementation of counseling measures, the proportion of not wearing helmet decreased from 48 to 16% that indicates the effectiveness of counseling measures.
2. The implementations of wearing helmets and counseling lesson plans for incompliant students improve cognitions of knowledge about ‘wearing helmet when riding motorcycles’ significantly in those students.
3. In cases of two violation registrations, the proportion of incompliance twice is 29% in students and the academic performance of those students are not significantly different from others. However, 40% of those students have the demerit records that the portion is slightly higher than those who without demerit records. It indicates that schools have to reinforce the traffic safety educations of students that have deviant behaviors.
4. To adopt the registrations and counseling for incompliant students without wearing helmets is significantly improve the traffic safety knowledge and the actual proportion of wearing helmets. That is worthy of concrete implementation for schools.
