| Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 科技管理學系碩士在職專班 === 100 === The purpose of this study is to understand the participation in recreational activities among elementary school teachers in Banciao District through questionnaires. Different barriers to participation under different background variables were investigated as well. The instrument used was adapted from “The questionnaire on the participation in recreational activities and the barriers to participation among elementary school teachers of Taichung County”. With a response rate of 90.1% (550 returned out of 610 sent), the data collected was analyzed by descriptive statistics, mean and standard deviations, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. The conclusions are as follows.
1. The teachers in Banciao District participate in recreational activities both on holidays and non-holidays, mostly in the afternoon, twice or three times a week, each time lasting less than an hour. Most of them do it in the company of family members and in a place not far away from home.
2. The types of recreational activities preferred by the teachers are mostly outdoor activities. The top five are walking, mountain climbing, bicycling, badminton, and swimming.
3. Top-ranked barriers to participation include lack of time, expenses, location, personal reasons, and family commitments.
4. Except for gender, age, level of university degree, duty, and serving years in school are the variables that significantly affected the teachers’ ratings of the barrier factors.
