Therefore, tiles are often used as the main decorative material on the face of RC buildings in Taiwan. However, the adhesive material used for the tiles is often ignored. Tiles require high adhesion strength, and the adhesive material must be waterproof. Improper construction or works with their own experience can cause pores to develop in the tile adhesive layer, leading to poor tile adhesion and attachment. In Taiwan’s wet climate, these wall tiles easily lead to cracking or spelling. There are no proper standards and quality control methods for these adhesive materials. This study conducted sampling among construction personnel to investigate the requirements for adhesive material properties, enabling a better understanding of the basic properties of adhesive materials. In addition, this study explored the reasons for the deterioration of wall tiles. Finally, various variables were used to study the influence of adhesive materials and workmanship defects on the adhesive strength of external wall tiles. Test results show that methyl cellulose mortar has the best adhesive and compressive strength. In addition, adhesion area has a proportional relationship to adhesive strength. Finally, when tiles do not have applied stress and applied compressive stress of more than 90 g when sticking on the wall, their adhesive properties decline. The conclusions and suggestions in this study are intended to be used as references for the production and quality control of wall tiles and avoidance of workmanship defects.
