To the authors’ knowledge, there is no quantitative and effective screening tool to identity this specific problem in children with DCD.【Purpose】The purposes of this study are: 1.To design and develop a computerized program for visual screening in children with DCD. 2. To evaluate the differentiating effect between typically developed children(TD) and children with developmental coordination disorder(DCD) with the program prototype.【Method】The study was mainly composed of two stages. In the first stage, acomputerized program prototype was designed based on the reviewed literature respecting to visual perception in children with DCD and TD. Four subtests was included in the program, including test of Visual-Perceptual Skill-Revised(TVPS-R), eye and hand coupling, visuospatial attention shift, and form and motion coherence. In the second stage, a quasi-experimental design was used to compare the visuo-perceptual problems in the two target groups. Seventeen children with DCD and seventeen TD children were included in this study. The DCD group was selected based on their Movement Assessment Battery for Children(M-ABC) score (<15%). The dependent variables included: reaction time, error scores, coherence thresholds..【Result】The result indicated that the program prototype was able to differentiate children with and without DCD. Children with DCD presented higher error rates and longer reaction time in visual discrimination, form constancy, figure ground, eye-hand coupling, and visuospatial attention shift. For motion coherence, children with DCD demonstrated significant higher coherence. A significant correlation between coherence and Balance subdomain of M-ABC-2 was detected. More studies are needed to facilitate the clinical application and the potential use for visuo-motor training with this program. H. Y. Cheng 程欣儀 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 120 |
