In military they hope that they can use the satellite radar to adjust the location where they need. According to this principle they develop the technique called beam-forming which has the advantage of adjustment without mechanical movement. By using the changes of phase or time delay to drive the different elements of antenna and to approach their goal. But using the change of phase usually accompany with beam squint. To avoid this short using the optical true time delay line to get this technique has become more and more popular. This article is about using optical true time delay line to combine the array antenna, testify the experiment setup of phased array antenna under 6.15GHz frequency. The system includes power splitter, Mach-Zehnder modulator, Semiconductor Optical Amplifier, Power Amplifier, Dispersion Compensating Fiber, Photo-Detector, and Attenuator. Laser light through dispersion compensating fiber cause the negative dispersion can achieve the change of phase, by using the difference of dispersion cause by different dispersion compensating fiber under the different wavelength to get the phase that we need. By controlling the main lobe’s or side lobe’s combination can get our system shift about -22 degree to 33 degree also it can link up with tunable laser to automatic scan to achieve the manpower saving.
