The image motion tracking system consumes a lot of time if it is implemented purely by software, but is low computational cost, with regular computational structure and with single-pixel-wide edge detection if implemented on an FPGA using the ADM algorithm. The ADM algorithm implemented in hardware is able to accelerate the speed of image tracking. The work is an image motion tracking system based on edge detection and used Verilog to realize the hardware circuit of the ADM algorithm. We validated the system architecture by water-in-oil microfluidic image to detect microfluidics’ velocity and compared the results of software, of hardware and of Software Development Kit (SDK).
