However, following by this change, there are consequences as exhaustion of fossil fuel and damage of environment. Economical development requires lots of nature resource to invest in. That is, the more the economics is developed, the more the resource is used. As the fossil fuel will be soon exhausted, human beings have been forced to think about how to use the energy in a sustainable way and at the same time still be able to keep the progress of economical development. Thus, alternative energy, also called green energy, such as wind energy, hydroelectricity, solar energy, biomass energy, and tidal power, is rightly thought as the first solution. General characteristics of green energy are less hazardous to the environment and renewable. Among them, wind energy production is specially featured as high security and low pollution. Now it has become the fastest growing renewable energy source in the world. Hence, selection and installation of regional wind turbines is viewed as a critical task for long-term development of renewable energy. In this research, a comprehensive evaluation model, which incorporates interpretive structural modeling and fuzzy analytic network process (FANP), is constructed to select suitable turbines in developing a wind farm. A case study is carried out in Taiwan in evaluating the expected performance of several potential types of wind turbines, and experts in a wind farm are invited to contribute their expertise in evaluating the importance of the factors of the wind turbine evaluation and in rating the performance of the turbines with respect to each factor. The most suitable turbines for installation can finally be generated after the calculations. The results can be references for decision makers in selecting the most appropriate wind turbines.
