碩士 === 元智大學 === 企業管理與服務科學學程 === 99 === In this paper, we measured and evaluated the performance of commercial banks of Mongolia using data envelopment analysis. Technical efficiency and scale efficiency are considered in evaluating the banks’ performance. Three inputs and three outputs of thirteen banks are investigated to explore the efficiency of their operation. The results show that banks with Russian shareholders are more efficient than banks with local shareholders, banks with more branches outside capital city are less efficient than banks have fewer branches outside the capital city, banks have more than 1000 employees are less efficient than that with lower number of employees, banks with more than 100 branches have lower efficiency than banks with less branches, and private banks are more efficient than public banks.
