In addition to the solar-to-electrical energy conversion, a new spherical light sensor is designed such that the array of the thin-film photovoltaic panels can always track and face the sun. The system is composed of four major parts, the charging circuit, the spherical light sensors, the tracking controller, and the panel machine. In particular, all the panels are controlled in parallel and the number of the panels is adjustable. The experimental results show the system is feasible and can charge the Li-battery efficiently.
