Methodologically this study conducted the data collection by administering in-depth interviews supplemented with the interview recording to the consecutive semi-structural framework; and selected 12 parents of lower graders in elementary schools in Taoyuan City, who had participated into their children’s reading for a two year plus period, as subjects. The study firstly investigated the factors driving the parent to participate into the child’s early reading, next explore how each of the parents participated in the reading activity and lastly the influences each of them perceived in the course of the participation. On the basis of the results obtained to the said processes, this study comes to the conclusions as the follows: 1. There are major factors leading the parent to participate into the child’s early ready, including the motivation from the parent’s own reading habit, the inspiration from the parents’ own and others’ reading experiences, as well as the fact that books serve as good helper during the course of raising children. 2. For nurturing the child’s reading habit, the parents normally planned the reading space and maintained a good collection of books. The books mainly came from the sources such as independent purchasing, or books as gifts from relatives or friends; while using the public libraries as sources remained far from popular and in need of advocate. 3. The parents intending to participate into the children’s early reading should start as early as possible for startup timing, and should accompany the children reading in various lively ways, so as to help children grow interests in reading. 4. At the extended stages, the parents participating into children’s early reading, should adjust the mode of participation gradually and help the children over come the barriers they come across during reading, so as to develop their independent reading habit and ability. 5. The major influences to the children from the parents having participating into the children’s early reading are: broadening the children’s view, enhancing the children’s literacy ability and promoting the healthy development in mentality. Furthermore, the influences to the parent-child relationship and the family encompass the increased positive interaction between parent and child and consequently enhance the sense of happiness among all family members. On the basis of the conclusions of this study mentioned above, the author would present suggestions and proposals as reference for the parents, schools, concerned governmental agencies and the coming researchers. 洪泉湖 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 172 zh-TW
