Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 化學工程與材料科學學系 === 99 === The preparation, characterization, and application of low molecular weight poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (LMW PHB) are investigated by using Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), gel permeation chromatography (GPC), X-ray diffraction, mechanical test, and biodegradation test. The unsaturated solid LMW PHB is successfully prepared by reacting PHB solution at a high temperature. It is obtained from TGA that the prepared trans-form LMW PHB has a lower initial degradation temperature than PHB. The results of DSC and X-ray diffraction also indicate that LMW PHB has a lower melting temperature and crystallinity than PHB. The unsaturated reactive C = C bonds produced in LMW PHB are confirmed by FTIR. The polymeric films made by UV curing of hydroxyethylmethacrylate and LMWPHB have considerable mechanical strength and thermal stability but are not biodegradable because of the crosslinked structure.
