Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 健康產業管理研究所碩士班 === 99 === ABSTRACT Background: The assessment of life quality of breast cancer patients has become an important indicator for the clinical experiment and treatment. However, reviewing the related documentation, it was found that it was given less attention on the study of the personality traits, self-efficacy and quality of life, thus this study aims to investigate these related issues and expect to provide information for medical staff. Objective: The first purpose of this study is to understand the present situation of the quality of life of breast cancer patients. Secondly, this study investigates the relationships between the personality traits, the self-efficiency and the quality of life of breast cancer patients. Methods: This study is a cross-section study with purposive sampling to select women who have the breast operation and treatment in outpatient services in a regional teaching hospital. Ninety (N=90) patients were recruited. The questionnaires apply existing well-known questionnaires containing Eysenck personality, self-efficacy, EORTC QLQ-C30 and EORTC QLQ-BR23. Results: The major findings of this study are as follows: (1) the score of life quality of breast cancer patients was 62.87 points which is not very good; (2) the patients who have more extroverted personality have better "self-efficiency". Meanwhile the "personality traits - extroversion," self-efficiency and "overall quality of life" have positive correlations; (3) the high Neuroticism have a negative impact to “overall quality of life”. Lastly, through the analysis of stepwise multiple regression, it was found that "self-efficacy" and "personality traits - neuroticism" are good predictors to predict "overall quality of life". Conclusion: "Personality" and "self-efficacy" can help us to understand and predict the overall quality of life of women with breast cancer. The health care team should provide the deeply personal care and treatment which give positive value to breast cancer patients when they face significant illness experience, and strengthen the self performance of patients to improve their quality of life.
