Summary: | 碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 休閒運動研究所碩士班 === 99 === This study aims to investigate the perceptions, impact, and expectations of five participants who have climbed top one hundred mountains in Taiwan. With the semi-structured interview, the research explores the change of the attitude towards the ecological environment in the forests and mountains after such substantial input of time and effort, as well as the awareness to the environment and the expectations for the future mountain-climbing activities. The results reveal a change of the attitudes of the participants towards the forest environment in Taiwan after the mountain-climbing activity. The findings are as follows. While participants maintain a negative viewpoint to some popular and general routes, they have high appreciation towards the beautiful scenery. Those who have developed the climbing habit possess a deeper affection to the forests and are willing to care for and to protect them. They all thought that human waste and the leftover should take out from the mountains is impossilbe, and there is still room for the improvement of the environmental education. This ecological experience brings us to reflect upon the beauty of the Taiwan mountains, the motivation of mountain-climbing, the attitudes and responsibilities of the mountain guide and leader, as well as the respect to the mountains and Mother nature. The expectations include appropriate attitudes and behaviors for mountain-climbing, and with the practical experiences, to better advise the mountain-climbing practitioners and the government.
