Summary: | 碩士 === 國立陽明大學 === 物理治療暨輔助科技學系 === 99 === Background: Balance disorder and lower extremity muscle weakness are two major factors of high incidence of elderly fall. In clinic, many measurement approach regarding to balance dysfunction and lower extremity strength weakness haven been developed for assessing fall risk in older persons. Proper exercise approaches of fall prevention in older persons have been inadequately developed in rehabilitation clinic. Tai Chi is a Chinese ancient martial art. Two features of Tai Chi, from rehabilitation perspective, are balance challenge and lower extremity strength training. Thus, it has been commonly used in aging exercise, especially applying in older fall prevention. Purpose: Based on above reasons, purpose of this study were to develop a Tai Chi aided training system (Tai Chi AT System) for elderly fall prevention and to build up initial database of suitable Tai Chi exercise form. Method: Tai Chi AT system in this study is composed three main modules that include (1) subject ability evaluation, (2) exercise prescription for test subject and (3) guidance exercise training based on database selection. Database was classified according to balance and lower extremity strength feature.Tai Chi AT system in present study included hardware and software development. In hardware, a computer interactive system was built up which included sensory platform, signal processor and information displayer. Sensory platform can accurately calculate vertical ground reaction force and coordinate of center of pressure. Based on these signal, subject can efficiently interactive with Tai Chi AT system. In software, several specific Tai Chi exercise forms, performed by a professional Tai Chi master, were collected in order to establish comparison and guidance database. All collection data were classified according to feature of balance and lower extremity strength. LabVIEW 2009 software was used to program the system. Result: Present study successfully developed a Tai Chi AT system. That can be applied in elderly health promotion, especially, applying in elderly fall prevention. The system provided friendly user interface that easily allowed user to evaluate elderly ability in both balance and lower extremity strength. Based on evaluation result, user can easily select suitable exercise program for each subject. Discussion:
Although Tai Chi AT system has successfully been developed both in hardware and software construction, it still needs to be revised in order to improve in its function. In evaluation module, balance and lower extremity strength item need to have more practical parameters in describing performance level for each user. In database, system needs to collect more Tai Chi exercise forms in order to establish more completed programs.
