Among many unhealthy behaviors and factors, physical inactivity associated with health problems was well documented. In Taiwan, the “Adult Preventive Care Services (APCS)” which provided by National Health Insurance mainly encourage adult whose ages above 40 years to accept a periodic health examination, and aim to early detect the chronic disease and unhealthy factors, through the treatment, consultation and referral, people could get appropriate health care and promoted guideline. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of incentives intervention on increasing people’s participation in the referral service (RS) and the health promotion referral of exercise (HPRoE) following the adult preventive care. Method: 200 people who attended the APCS were referred to researcher. All the participant were divided into two groups (incentive1 and incentive2), and were accepted different incentive information about participating in the RS; people in the group incentive1 got an opportunity of free HPRoE (included fitness test and exercise consultation) and coupons if they participate in the RS; people in the group incentive2 got only a free HPRoE if they participate in the RS. Compare the demographics, participate rate, achieve rate between the two groups, and compare the change of exercise habit and physical activity after the HPRoE at the following 1 month. Results: Group incentive1 had a significant higher participate rate of ES(100% vs. 72%, χ2=6.489, p value<0.05) and achieve rate of HPRoE (79.6% vs. 61.4%, χ2=6.489, p value<0.05) than group incentive2. At 1 month, participation had a significant improvement in the exercise habit and exercise intensity, but it wasn’t different in the exercise frequency and time after the intervention of HPRoE. Conclusion: Established the connection between APCS and incentive-based RS could encourage more people to participate in the HPRoE, but if we want to get more effect on improving people’s exercise behavior, maybe we could use exercise referral scheme in place of HPRoE in the future.
