Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立陽明大學 === 生物醫學資訊研究所 === 99 === Cancer cell secretome, group of proteins released by cancer cells or tissues, is a promising source for discovery of cancer biomarker candidates. With the efforts of high-throughput technology, large amounts of secretome proteomic data have been accumulated. To facilitate the identification of potential cancer biomarker candidates, we developed a cancer-oriented secretome database–-SecreteBase by systematical collection of cancer-cell secreted proteins primarily detected by mass spectrometry. The database system requirements were determined through interviews with domain experts and further analyzed and designed via a use-case driven approach. As a result, SecreteBase provides a web-based interface that contains six use cases to perform the scenarios that a user may experience. For example, users can query or browse for a specific data element (a protein or an experiment) via various criteria. They may also compare subsets of protein lists of different combination. Until now, 4422 proteins identified in the conditioned media of 23 cancer cell lines derived from 11 cancer types are available in this database. It is a cancer-oriented and web-based database that can serve as a reference repository for cancer biomarker discovery.
