In this thesis, a volumetric three-dimensional display technology based on circular sweeping of two-dimensional LED arrays is proposed. The proposed algorithm is for mapping a virtual three-dimensional(2D) object to a three-dimensional object in physical space. Find intersections between each order pair of vertices which are connection and each 0.5-degree sweeping plane by accessing vertices of 3DS file format. Locate the intersections in polar coordinates in three-dimensional space, and then quantize to correspond 2D coordinates of LED arrays and angular position. Finally, the 3D object data which is stored in flash memory provide for displaying instantaneously. Based on the principle of human visual perceptual hysteresis, the proposed display technology that uses a two-dimensional panel of LED arrays which rotates with 360 degrees has achieved displaying an effect of three-dimensional imagery. For reasonable time and space, the procedure of circular sweeping which uses a LED driving circuit of field programmable gate array (FPGA) to access flash memory data provide 2D LED arrays to display each corresponding image for each corresponding degree.
