Summary: | 碩士 === 臺北巿立體育學院 === 運動教育研究所 === 99 === Purpose: To examine the relationships between sport confidence, state anxiety and pitching accuracy in college women’s softball pitchers. Method: Eleven college female softball pitchers who competed in the 2010 Super League of National Women's Softball were recruited. Prior to the competition, the participants completed demographic survey and a measure of trait sport-confidence. The Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2R was conducted 30 min prior to each game, and after the participants reviewed each inning they pitched via videotape while the game was done. Pitching accuracy was assessed by three observers who were formal softball players. Results: There was no significant relationship between trait sport-confidence and pitching accuracy. Then, cognitive anxiety and somatic anxiety could effectively predict accuracy, whereas state confidence could not. Under the tied situation, the pitchers showed higher confidence than under the leading and behind situations. Finally, the participants revealed higher cognitive anxiety as being a backup pitcher than being a starter. Conclusion: It seems that higher physical arousal and less negative thinking enhance pitcher’s accuracy. Coaches and sport psychologists should develop appropriate relaxation skills to help pitchers improve their performance.
