| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南藝術大學 === 博物館學與古物維護研究所 === 99 === The purpose of this study was to investigate people who do not go to the National Museum of Taiwan Literature (NMTL) and find out the barriers preventing people from visiting. In this study, the data were collected by using semi-structured interviews with non-visitors, who never visit or have visited the NMTL but not in the last twelve months. Then, a total of 65 people were interviewed including 36 females and 29 males.
Through investigating and analyzing, the major findings of this study were shown as follows:
1. About half of interviewees have not heard about the NMTL, especially males.
2. Generally, interviewees are not interested in literature and seldom participate in cultural and arts events.
3. The reasons why interviewees do not visit the museum are lack of interest, lack of information, and lack of time. However, the most important factor that influences people to visit the museum is their interest.
4. The interviewees who have visited the NMTL are more willing to visit the museum than the ones who never visited the NMTL.
According to these results, this study proposed suggestions for the NMTL. First, the NMTL should provide more information for non-visitors by marketing and advertisements. Second, it is necessary to develop new audiences such as families and students. Third, the NMTL should plan more interactive exhibitions and diverse activities to motivate non-visitors. At last, the NMTL should create a friendly and easy to access environment.
