Summary: | 碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 數位學習碩士學位學程 === 99 === Along with the popularity of IT equipment, and a large number of hardware and software for computer and network were being deployed, the learning resources provided on network is very rich. Elementary school education can provide the basic learning for computer education. Through a well basic computer education, elementary school students will have the ability and opportunity to learn from the computer and network.
The existing elementary computer education results in the distance of students’ digital opportunity gap from parents’ different IT abilities and family socioeconomic capacities. By the time students enter the computer courses at third grade, a serious digital division which causes the difficulties for teachers in teaching has already occurred. Therefore, this study was to understand the computer user experience and individual differences for fourth grade Elementary School students, and to explore whether the Peer-Assisted Learning Strategies (PALS) applied in the internet courses for elementary school could help students to learn or not.
This study is divided into three main parts: the first part is a conducted survey of the computer user experience and digital opportunities for elementary school students, to compare the condition of the current students using computers with that of National Survey in 2006. The result of the survey was also used as basis information in this research. The second is the experiment on teacher’s instruction. While the control group used the general approach, the experimental group used PALS in teaching. After full semester courses completed, student’s learning effectiveness was assessed. The final part is the statistical analysis according to the result of questionnaire and overall benchmarking.
Results of this research showed that the status of fourth graders in using computer is very similar with the result of survey in 2006. Students at this age all have the same opportunity to use IT equipment, but the frequencies of usage between both are very different. The final summative assessment scores for using PALS in elementary school computer courses indicates that the learning performances were improved but the improvement did not reach the significant standard.
