Summary: | 碩士 === 淡江大學 === 經濟學系碩士班 === 99 === Marital conflicts cannot be separated from each marriage. Relative to the previous
literature, this thesis examines how a couple’s differences of their social-economic
characteristics affect the level of conflicts in a family. Marital conflicts are defined as
“housework”, “children”, “financial”, “family” and “emotion” five aspects, and the
total level of conflicts is the sum of these five categories in this study. We adopt the
ordered-logit model to analyze the effects of couple differences on marital conflicts
and estimate the marginal effects by utilizing the data of Panel Study of Family
Dynamics. Our empirical results show that personal characteristics born from original
families are very important in each marriage. In addition, couples who have
financial pressures such as house loan would suffer higher marital conflicts.
