The charger is composed of two converters in cascade, namely the AC-DC converter with interleaved power factor correction (PFC) and isolated DC-DC converter, and these converters are realized by the PWM controller UCC28070 and UCC3895 respectively. In order to enlarge rated power, the boost-type PFC contains multiple characteristics including two-phase interleaved, average current-mode and continuous conduction mode. Such characteristic can enhance efficiency and reduce ouput current ripple, then the size of energy storage inductor and output capacitor is reduced. The isolated full-bridge DC-DC converter is implemented by phase-shifting the switching of one half-bridge with respect to the other. It achieves resonant zero-voltage switching through suitable leakage inductance of the transformer to enhance the efficiency of the converter. The specification of proposed charger is input AC110V/60Hz, power factor more than 0.95 and 49V/500W output.
