The specification of GPON has been standardized by the ITU-T. This thesis discusses bandwidth allocation mechanisms on GPON. We propose a new dynamic bandwidth allocation mechanism based on the reference model by ITU-T in 2008. The dynamic bandwidth allocation mechanism utilizes the remaining bandwidth for bandwidth allocation in order to reduce average packet delay and increase bandwidth utilization levels. The simulated performance of such proposed mechanism is evaluated and compared with other proposed algorithms for various network scenarios. This thesis also discusses the relationship between the dynamic bandwidth allocation mechanism and cycle length. It reveals the impacts of the cycle length on the bandwidth allocation mechanism through the simulation results. 吳和庭 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 66 zh-TW
