A 10-inch metal plate commonly used back board for liquid crystal screen, is used as the two antennas’ ground plane. By the effective ground plane, the two antennas operate resonant frequency bands for WLAN and WiMAX applications. In the first design, the proposed antenna consists of a monopole antenna structure and a quasi coupling PIFA antenna structure. The monopole antenna operates a high resonant band that is from 4.99 GHz to 6.34 GHz. By adjusting the impedance matching of PIFA antenna, a middle and a low resonant band gets together to provide an impedance bandwidth from 2.35 GHz to 4.06 GHz. In the second design, a small-size loop antenna with coupled-fed mechanism is proposed. The impedance bandwidth of the loop antenna is obtained through its first resonant mode and higher resonant mode. The obtained operation bandwidths can be applied in WLAN/WiMAX applications.
