Summary:碩士 === 南台科技大學 === 機械工程系 === 99 === This research has studied the different principle of early streamer emission lightning rod and Franklin's lightning rod, and a result of comparison between them in theory and the scope of protection is given. A modern style air lightning protection device has been designed and fabricated in this research by the 3D CAD software. A featured characteristic of preventing the thunder from sideway is added for the lightning path is always influenced by rains and winds. The design is to guide away the side-striking of thunder and makes a better protection of buildings. The lightning protection capabality of devices ESE terminal and of traditional one is compared by striking number of the mini-lightning generated by a high voltage Tesla coil which is placed at the same distance with those terminals. After actually measuring and counting the striking number, the ESE device shows better protection capability than traditional lightning rod.
