We proposed an improved DVD pick-up head to form a displacement sensor that can be applied to the measurement of vibration for NB fan. The LabVIEW graphical development program was employed the software for NB fan vibration measurement. Conventionally the vibration measurement uses the accelerometer as the sensor. Because of the mass effect, the type of contact measurement would affect the measurement result of vibration for miniature fan. As mentioned above, a non-contact measurement for NB fan is proposed. We design the three-point clamping platform, and the NB fan is placed in the top of the platform. The commercial DVD pick-up head is used as the sensor to measure the vibration of the NB fan. The experiment results show that can obtain the stable data. Furthermore, the commercial DVD pick-up head servers as the sensor, so this system not only reduces the cost but also obtains good vibration measurement results.
