Through the rise of social networking services, Facebook has become the most popular one. The most attractive part of Facebook is its third-party applications. The easily approachable games have driven the whole world crazy, and the media also rushes to report on it. Facebook users are not only college students, but also include people of all ages, and its influence keeps extending. Explosive growth and business opportunities should not be underestimated. Follow the tide of Facebook, as more and more people immerse in its online game applications every day. Among the games Facebook has released, Restaurant City has outperformed many others. Since its launch in 2009, Restaurant City has remained on the top 100 chart. The website appdata.com recorded over 5 million visits to the game by May 2011. The game’s design has attracted many players. Its popularity among internet users is exemplified through dedicated web pages discussed in major game forums. Operating a restaurant has seemingly become a fad for everyone around us after work or school. Thus, this study targets Restaurant City as a research subject and aims to discover Taiwanese’ addiction to online games and its influence. Online surveys are conducted through online game bases, PTT (a bulletin board famous among university students), and analyzed using statistical methods. Results show that “internet addiction” is not significantly related with either “experiences of obsession with online gaming”, “virtual interpersonal relationships on the internet”, “website loyalty”, or “melancholia or anxiety”.
