WiMAX is faster and its bandwidth is sufficient. However, how to reduce the system load and to avoid interruption are the key issues to be resolved, while we make a large amount of information transmission. HMIPV6 uses a Mobility Anchor Point (MAP) as the Local HA, to regionalize the handover operation, reduce lots of the Binding Update (BU) information transmission of MIPV6 among HA, CN and MN, and to achieve the goal of fast handover. However, the BU procedure of HMIPV6 consumes too much time, it causes packet loss and transmission delay. Therefore, this paper proposes VMAP-C (VMAP with Caching) to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of handover. In this scheme, we use VMAP scheme to improve the efficiency of signal transmission, and also utilize caching to replace the existing DAD mechanism. Then, we will perform simulations with NS-2 simulator and the number of MN is increasing from 1 to 50. The final results indicate that the proposed VMAP-C obtains reducing about 56.38% to 13.99% in Handover delay, and lowering about 55.85% to 9.30% in Jitter of inter-packet, enhancing the about 10.78% to 0.54% in throughput of system, and reducing the Packet loss about 84.29% to 2.10% than VMAP.
