Therefore, this article documents the extent of part-time employment and evaluates its relationship to academic achievement, their school leaving decisions and wage rates. This article reports findings from the National Taiwan Normal University Education Research and Evaluation Center of the integration of Taiwan’s higher education database. The data that is about the freshman of university enrolled, the junior student, the graduate and the college graduation after one year. First, we use Tobit model to research into the cause of part-time employment during school year. We get a result that family income and school or individual expense has impact on part-time employment during academic year. And, we use ordered probit model to analyse the relationship to part-time employment during academic year and academic achievement. Its finding is that students who work fewer than twenty- one hours per week may not interfere with student academic achievement, and increase the working hours may reduce academic achievement. Next, we want to know how the extent of part-time employment during academic year impacts students’ initial career choice and wage. In part of career choice, we use multinomial logit model to research. Its finding is that freshmen who work more than twenty-one hours per week, the more probability to do full-time job or a part-time job; in opposite, the probability of entering a higher school or waiting for a job is raising. And the junior who work lower than twenty-one hours or more than twenty-one hours during school year, the higher probability to do full-time job, and the more probability to do full-time when the freshmen or the junior increases the working hours during school year. Finally, we adopt sample selection model to explore condition of wage after graduation. The result is that the freshman who work less than twenty-one hours per week may get the higher wage, but there is no impact on wage when the freshmen increases the working hours. And we find the result that the junior who work lower or more than twenty-one hours per week may get higher wage after graduation, and increase the working hours may get a higher wage.
