The high turnover rate of employees may have negative effects on the competution or growth in high-tech industry. The main purpose of the research is to examine the relationship between empolyees’ social capital,social exchange ,work stress and turnover intention in high-tech firms. Especially,the research was designed to understand how high-tech empolyees’ relationship between organization, supervisors and colleagues will have influences on empolyees’ work stress and turnover intention. Through a field survey of employees from 675 Taiwan high-tech companies . A total of 203 completed samples were returned. The result indicated that high-tech empolyees’ social capital and social exchange were negatively related to turnover intention ,but social capital and social exchange have no significant negatively effect on work stress .The result also indicated that empolyees’ work stress was positively related to turnover intention and empolyees’ social exchange has a significant and positive effect on social capital. The contributions of this study include two sides, academic and practical. On academic side, the study integrated vertical relationship(social exchange) and horizontal relationship(social capital) to explore their effects on turnover intention .On practical side, it provided implications for organizations to establish appropriate mechanism to improve empolyees’ vertical and horizontal relationship in organizations .It can help enterprises to understand how to use inside relationships to reduce high-tech empolyees’ work stress and turnover intention. Finally, limitations and future directions were discussed.
