The first chapter introduces the characteristics of the lyric opera and the music composition of Massenet. The second chapter is focus on the interaction between music and drama, then analyzes the characteristic of the script and creation background. The third chapter presents the musical analysis such as music structure, melody, harmony, cadence, meter, rhythm, dynamics, density, texture, and motive. The last chapter analyzes the relation between lyrics and music and discussing the singing style with interpretation.
