She combined Eastern Culture with Western Music in her compositions and introduced Eastern Culture to the world. In addition to personal compositions, she was commissioned by numerous world-famous fine art groups, performers and international music festivals, such as Alea III, The Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, Rhonda Rider and Monadnock Music Festival, etc.. Her compositions have been performed in many countries. Three Fantasias for Solo Clarinet in B- flat was commissioned by her sister Wen-Shin Cheng, the clarinetist, accomplished in 2006. This work is based on Taiwanese folk songs, Diu-Diu-Tang, White Egret and The Dark sky, she integrated lyrics of the songs into music, and each songs has its own stories. By using the old folk songs' materials, she developed and composed the new Diu-Diu-Bu-Laio, Flying Away White Egret and Darking Dark Sky. In this thesis, not only focus on the analysis and interpretation, but briefly concise introductions of Taiwanese Folk Song History and three folk songs' composers' bio, their repertoire and great contributions in Taiwanese music.
